Happy mother’s day! I started thinking that although my dad makes an appearance on the blog every now and then, you’ve seen very little of my mother. That’s because when my dad and I are working on house projects, she’s doing the really hard, behind-the-scenes work—watching my kids!
She has shown me a wonderful example of how to be a good mom, always putting us first, encouraging us, and doing very little for herself. She’s also a fun grandmommy—just ask my kids!
I realized when looking for photos for this post that I have very few pictures of myself with my mom. In fact, we have very few pictures of my mom at all. She’s quite the photographer and is always behind the camera.
Here’s one of our whole family at Thanksgiving that she posted to Facebook shortly after we made our announcement about the twins :)
My own mother’s day around here is off to a wonderful start. I was surprised with new beach chairs, a People magazine subscription (my guilty pleasure!), some (slightly opened/eaten) candy and a few interesting creations made from pipe cleaners :)
And, don’t you love the treats your kids bring home from school for Mother’s day? Here was a “mommy fact sheet” that my 6-year-old daughter made for me. Maybe I won’t be remembered for my great culinary skills, but I can live with that. . .
And, check out the babies in my belly. . .
And, finally, I have a winner to announce for the FTD Better Homes & Gardens bouquet giveaway:
Congrats to Jessie, who said . . .
(Obviously, Jessie’s mom mastered more than macaroni. . . )
Check back tomorrow. I’ll be featuring bloggers and their moms as my Send Me a Picture series continues. Have a happy day!
I love your daughter’s artwork. The artwork with the babies in your belly really cracked me up.
Thanks for the exciting news today, I am so thrilled!
Enjoy your day, Emily. Have a fabulous Mother’s Day celebration!

My daughter took me to breakfast for Mother’s Day. My two are grown. May you have a cherished day with your own.

Emily,
Loved the drawing with the babies in your “belly”. Happy Mother’s Day!
Emily, that is so adorable!! My fill-in-the-blank said that I was *seventeen* years old and that I always say “Get ready for school!” It also said my favorite TV show was “singing shows … American Idol” but I think he was confused with my Glee obsession … and The Voice. ;-) Love these fun things!
That picture of you is darling! Not only are there two babies in your belly, you’ve got blue eyes! :) Happy Mother’s Day Emily!
that picture with the twins in your belly is hilarious. i just posted the picture my kindergarten daughter drew of me in a black dress and high heels (which is funny since I’m a SAHM and don’t dress up very much). the teacher said to put one thing I say. her quote? “Ainsley, put on your shoes.” Seriously.
That picture of you is pure awesome! Hope you had a happy Mother’s Day. Here’s to Coke (the only thing that settled my morning sickness)!
