Zebra Mirrors

March 1, 2012

Thanks for all of your kind (and funny) comments on yesterday’s post.  Apparently, a lot of you can relate to living in chaos.  And, I like that.

So, back to the pretty stuff. . .  My wheels started turning after I found this image on Pinterest this week.

That’s the thing about Pinterest. It makes you want things you never knew you did. . .   Suddenly, I feel a little obsessed with having a zebra mirror somewhere in our house.

This one has a thinner frame, and I like the mismatched pattern:

I’m not 100% confident in my zebra-stripe-painting abilities, but I think I might give it a try on an extra mirror I have around here.   There are apparently a lot of tutorials online for how to paint zebra stripes on just about anything. . .

I think I’ll stick with a mirror.

I do like a good zebra pattern. Can’t wait to see how you do with your zebra stripes. I can’t believe there are tutorials for that. How helpful!

I love this look! Ever since I saw a Color Splash episode where David Bromstad used a huge zebra mirror in a dining room, I have been in love with the idea! Go for it! I would love the see how it comes out! I just might have room for this too! :)

Oh, this is fun. I know it will be fabulous! My favorite is the thinner one with mismatched patterns. Keep us posted!

Oh my gosh–that first image is my favorite! I haven’t seen these before. I am smitten. I am staring at a large mirror right now—it can’t be that hard to diy. :)

I totally agree, out to find a zebra mirror we go… :) LOL! I just love Pinterest for project research, and it makes it fun too.
I just took a quick peek at your office evolution, looks fantastic. Really like the farm table as a desktop, no need to worry about scratches, kids etc!

Very excited to be onboard! I am still trying to warm up to zebra stripes tho…. maybe with a big chunk of white coral to go with?

P.S. I too am totally addicted to Pinterest. I have to set a timer for myself, otherwise I get lost in all of the wonderful ideas and blog posts!

I’ve been on the fence about zebra but you just pushed me to the wild side! I love it. And yes, I am spending a little too much time on pinterest.

My husband’s in the same Pinterest boat as Laurie’s. Loving all the new and exciting dinners . . . but hating the additions to his to-do list. You’re right, Emily — Pinterest really does make you want things you never knew you wanted. I’m currently obsessed with having a well-decorated laundry room. Hubby does not share my enthusiasm for this idea ;-D

*** Hi Sweetie! Hope you’re feeling OK/well/great/fabulous!!! (“Options”… we gals always like “OPTIONS”!!!)…

You can’t reeeeally think YOU’D mess this up, can you? I mean, you are “wonder woman” in MY eyes & most likely everyone ELSE’S!!! I say “JUST DO IT”, girlfriend!!!

When we had our ski place in Park City, I couldn’t find the “THAT’S IT!” something for a special place. I had a “newish” mirror I’d brought to use in decorating, but hadn’t used yet… SOOOOO, I bought some COWHIDE FABRIC & covered this medium-sized frame on the mirror with it… it reeeally looked GOOD (and even JIM liked it!)… I was rather flattered too, when just about everyone who came to our house there would comment on how FAB our lil’ ski house was (oooh, cuz, well, it WAS! I ADORED it & the joy of decorating it from scratch was a dream come TRUE!), annnnnd our family and friends “lovvvved” the mirror… fun!!!

Can’t WAIT to see your finished product… let the kids n’ Dad make YOU dinner, so you can austensibly “REST”… but then sneak into your special room & “make that mirror happen!”… (Aren’t I baaad?!?!?!?!)… Smles~~~

    Warmest,
    Linda (in AZ *)

Love the look of the Zebra mirrors. I think this could be a fun and easy DIY project. I am sure you have a plain mirror – or could pick one up CHEAP at a thrift store – and just paint the pattern! Hmmm…I need to make a run to the Goodwill – today!

I saw a fantastic one at Ross a few weeks ago. Great price too. Didn’t have the right spot for one, but I checked it out good. LOL. Just FYI =)

I love these, they add such a fun touch to a room. I love going through my Pinterest boards to see what repeating elements I find that I wasn’t necessarily looking for. You can find out a lot about your style this way. Good luck painting your stripes, I know it will turn out gorgeous!
