I haven’t even begun to decorate our kids’ rooms since we moved in, but I did order this colorful rug last week as the jumping off point for my son’s room:
I’ve been trying to figure out where to fit a kilim rug into our house for a while, and this one seemed playful enough for a little boy’s room (and the price was right).
I especially love the mix of colors they bring into an overall neutral space:
Country Living
Elle Decor
And, although out of my price range, I love the vintage ones that Pottery Barn now offers:

What’s your take on kilim rugs? Do you own one, or have a good source to share with us?
My mum just bought a new Kilim rug for the hallway and it looks great!
Love these images! My favorite kilims are the faded ones with softer, worn colors. I have spotted some great ones on Etsy and Ebay actually :)

What a fabulous rug for your son’s room! I don’t have a kilim rug but like you, I think one of my boy’s rooms would be the perfect spot. Can’t wait to see what you do!

I think a kilim rug would be great in our kitchen. I might have to think about that. I really like the one that you’ve selected for your son’s room and love all of the possibilities you could take from it.
I have owned a bunch of them for a while and move them around as I change up the rooms. Love them!
Kilim rugs are beautiful and add color and pattern to a room! ;-) Try homedecorators.com or even IKEA…
I love the faded worn colours of a kilim rug. I would love to use one in our cottage. It would bring a shot of colour and be beautiful against the wood floors and beams.
I love Kilim rugs. They have so much interest and texture. I don’t have one in my home, but hope to at some point. I love the one you picked out for your son’s room. The colors are so vibrant and fun!

I love them!! I dont have any Kilim rugs but I have two antique Persian ones that I just love. I recently got my second one at esalerugs.com, love that website!
I have a dhurrie rug but those are basically the same as kilim rugs. I didnt really care for mine :( I agree your inspiration pics are beautiful though. I found them hard to upkeep and vaccum. I’ve also been trying to sell it for around 130 dollars if anyone is interested. Its a 6×10 foot rug. thanks :-) rachelswray2@yahoo.com
My take on kilims is that I think I must have one! They look amazing!
I love to see them in very neutral kitchens… my dream. :)
I don’t own one, but would certainly love to. The one you choose is so cool for a jumping off point. Will you go neutral in your son’s room too? The pictures you chose are amazing!!!

I have that exact rug in our playroom / TV room. I agree that the colors make the room fun but without being too kiddie.
i love them too..would like one in my livnig room but with a toddler on the floor constantly i feel they are a bit rough and not very cushy but great to put over carpet…any other thoughts on upkeep and comfort.

Love the kilim rugs! Always in style and adds some punch. And thanks for the PB tip.
That kilim rug is really great! I have it in our office. I found it on my search to find one like Jenny’s from Little Green Notebook!
