I finished up a sunroom at a client’s house this week, and wouldn’t you know that not only was it an overcast day when I had hoped to take pictures, but I also forgot the memory card in my camera! Perfect. Anyway, I was excited to share it with you so I took some pictures with my assistant Abby’s iPhone, just so you’ll get an idea. (I’m going back in a few weeks and will take some brighter, clearer photos then.)
Here’s the room when we started. Visible from the kitchen and family room, but mostly unused.
And, here’s the room now:
My client is a lot of fun and not afraid of color. We softened the space by hanging curtain panels around the room. It also helped to break up the large window on the back wall. And, we took advantage of her arched ceiling by installing a cool light fixture as the centerpiece.
We also used the pillow fabric to cover a new drum shade for her existing floor lamp.
Better pictures to come. . .
I’m taking the day off tomorrow since my kiddos are out for a short fall break. Check back on Saturday for a great giveaway from my sponsor, Elisabeth Michael.
Such an inviting room! Love all the details!
This room is great! I love all the details together, especially the pillows & lamp shade.
Loving the pops of color and graphic fabrics. The lamp shade is inspired. :) Love, love, love it all.

Great job, as usual, Emily! I’m sure that room will make your client smile each time she walks into it. Enjoy your kiddo time!
Such a great transformation. The room is so inviting and I love the pops of color. Have a great little break!
Deconstructed pillow for the lampshade??!! Genius, Emily! It’s so inviting now – those window treatments just sing! I’d love to know more details on how you arrived at the curtain fabrics, etc. It’s gorgeous.
Well of course I think you did a fabulous job – look at all that lovely colour!
It looks great! A difference of some pattern added so much to this room. This room certainly has style now.

Red zebra with chartreuse green… I am in love! This room looks fun, fresh, and still peaceful enough to relax in! Seriously this room has made me giddy!

What a fun mix of color and pattern! I love seeing rooms like this, as it helps me think outside the box a bit and push the envelope (or at least think about pushing it) when it comes to my own paranoia of mixing patterns!
What a transformation! It doesn’t even look like the same space. The window treatments really warmed up the space and I love the touches of red zebra on the chairs and lampshade.
Love all the patterns – works so well.
Holy Dinah…what a transformation!!! I adore the curtains- they make the space so much warmer…great job!!!

Emily, Emily, Emily. Oh my. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!! Can’t even begin to find my favorite part, but right this second it is the wonderful use of those drapes…cozy-fies (I think I’m making up that word) that room right up, Ms. Smarty Pants!
But no – see? Switching my mind already…my favorite part *may* be that awesome lampshade with the oh-so-fun fabric. I’m going to go pinterest my heart out now.
What a great space! I love the fabrics you chose and all the details.
Love this! So inviting – fabulous job!
The new curtains make the windows look so much bigger, I actually scrolled back up to look at the ‘before’ image to be sure they hadn’t been replaced by taller windows! And I love, love, LOVE the light fixture!
So beautiful! I love your use of color and pattern. And the draperies add another wonderful layer of design.
What a transformation! I love this. Great job!
Emily……so pretty and updated…Love the panels. That so helped with the visual clutter of the windows!!!
Looks great! I do like the light fixture very much.
