Getting Back Into the Swing of Things. . .

July 26, 2011

We just returned from a few fun-filled days in the sun doing. . . nothing!  Just what I needed.  And, as opposed to last year, my husband and I actually got to sit down on the beach for more than two minutes at a time.

In fact, I even read a book (or most of it. . . I still have a little to finish).  I love reading.  I miss reading.  But, it just doesn’t fit into the schedule lately.

Have you read this?  I’m trying to read it before the movie comes out.  It’s one of those book that makes you think.  I’m going to have to lock myself in the closet and try to finish the rest this week.

And—one last thing.  Don’t forget to enter the giveaway from SimaG Jewelry for a personalized necklace.  Great treat for yourself or your favorite mom :)  I’m announcing the winner on my Facebook page tomorrow.

The book is great and I can’t wait for the movie. So glad you and your family had a great time. That picture of your children is precious.

The picture of your babies is precious. Frame-worthy, don’t you think? And “The Help”???? OMW – one of my favorite books (pardon the language in it) that I’ve ever read. Can. Not. Wait. for the movie!!! Hope you enjoy both, as well.

Reading feels like such an indulgence these days. I too just returned from a relaxing week away and just finished Tina Fey’s Bossypants, which was hilarious. Back to reality though. Love that shot of your kids on the beach! Good luck finishing up your book and regrouping.

I just finished “The Help” a couple of weeks ago – best book I’ve read this year. Really thought provoking – I hope the movie does it justice! Looks like you had a great time at the beach!

Isn’t that a great book? Nothing like your kids progressing to the age where you can actually sit and relax at the beach for a little bit! Glad you had a chance to relax!

Oh yes maam I have read that book—it is so so good. The book is no doubt thought provoking. Enjoy the rest of the book. (Definitely lock yourself in the closet because the end is so good. : ) )

Glad you got to get away and enjoy the beach! The Help is now one of my favorite books of all time! We read it last year in my book club, and I could hardly put it down. It definitely did make me think, and it was great for conversation. I also got so caught up in the characters that I was sad when the book ended. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did!!

Glad you enjoyed your vacation! I love pictures of children on the beach!!
I read the book a few months ago and thought it was great! I am not sure if I want to see the movie because I think so often movies don’t do the book justice and I walk away disappointed. That definitely happened with My Sister’s Keeper.

We just got back from the beach as well – your photo is precious. Have you tried getting the book on audio as well as the hardback? (the library has both mediums) I do this when my schedule is hectic so that I can listen a little, read a little (sometimes if I like the voice of the narrator I just listen as I am falling asleep). A great way to have your cake and eat it, too! xoxo michele

Welcome back. Adorable photo. We noticed this year that we actually get to sit down as well {for a few minutes!}. Good for you for getting some book time in. I started one on my SF trip and think it will sit unfinished now. Sadly!

Yay for taking some time off and beach sitting! Loved The Help. As for seeing movies…that is something we never, ever do anymore. They’re always at the wrong time to get a babysitter!

The beach is wonderful for rejuvenation, especially when you don’t have to be holding on to your kids at every moment! I didn’t read the book, but I saw The Help at the theater, and it was amazing. It’s scary to think that my grandparents were young couples during that era.
