Guess What the Big Brown Truck Brought?

February 18, 2011 29 Comments

The Overstock rug I blogged about earlier this week is already here, and guess who loves it best?

As you can see, we haven’t even placed it under the bed yet, but “the cow” has already become a favorite hangout spot.

Also, I enjoyed reading all of your comments yesterday about using chalkboard paint under the kitchen counter.  I was surprised at how strongly some of you felt about it, but it was good feedback and definitely gave me something to ponder.

I also received pictures from a reader that completed a similar project in her kitchen.  I really like the results.  (Thanks, Stacy!).  She made the roman shade, which I’m also liking.  To see more of her kitchen and updates, you can check out her blog here.

By the way, I also found that you can order dustless chalk inexpensively online. . .

Have a great weekend,

The rug is perfect!! And I agree completely go for in the kitchen. It will jazz it up and I am sure the kids will love it. My husband made three huge chalkboards in my son Charlie’s room and they are his favorite thing.
Also…beware of the dustless chalk. Not so dustless.

I looks great Emily….love getting something new :) Missed the whole chalkboard discussion….I think it could be cute…don’t worry about resale…you can always paint the whole island anyway! That is a great look also.

I need to get some of that chalk! Have you thought about using chalkboard vinyl instead of paint? Would be easier to take down when you tire of it. The rug is beautiful!

Didn’t think of it until now…but what about a temporary chalk area? Big piece of MDF framed out in cute molding and hung under the counter? I like this idea so much I might need to do it myself!

Seriously? That’s from Overstock?! That’s soooo great. I love seeing their stuff in real people’s homes. Gives you such a better sense for the product than the image on their site so often. That is a home run I think. I recently got their knock off Saarinen side table and am looooving it. LOVE the rug!!!

PS: if you like the dustless chalk you should check out “idea paint” I’ve just found out about it……….you can turn any flat surface into a white board…how cool is that.
