Thanks to one of my readers (Lara) for alerting me that my daughter’s bedroom was recently included in the HGTV.com article entitled “Our Favorite Colorful Bedrooms.”  (Special thanks to the writer, H. Camille Smith, for using my photograph.)

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on her room, so I thought I would take a minute to answer some of the most frequently asked questions I get about this space. . .

I took these pictures a while back before I knew to turn my flash off, but the wall color is a hot pink that I had custom mixed from the polka dot pillow fabric.  (Most paint stores will do this for you if you take a swatch.)
And, while I would like for you to believe that I hand-painted each of those perfectly round polka dots, there is not enough time in my day or patience in my body.  Instead, I used the 13″ wall decals made by WallPops.  I ordered mine from Ebay at the time, but they are also carried by paint and wallpaper stores.  We spent a whole evening precisely measuring and sticking, but it was still easier than painting 20+ giant circles.
I found the side table (originally in gold) on a clearance aisle at TJMaxx.  The headboard was made by Younger Furniture, although I can no longer find it on their site.  However, Nate Berkus makes a very similar (and affordable) version for HSN:
The bedding was custom (made by my aunt) and the green fabric is Michael Miller’s “Dandy Damask.”

Updated to add:  See the old dresser I repainted for this space here.

I spotted this just this morning on hgtv.com! Congratulations! Such a cheerfully glam little girl space. Where were WallPops when I was polka-dotting my little girl’s room 12 years ago?? :)

Your daught’er room is beautiful. Great color combination! I like the detail of the tiny pom pom trim on the pillows and the polka dot wall is fun in the hot pink! It’s a gorgeous room with the prefect touch of whimsy.
