I’ve blogged before about my search for the perfect coffee table for our family room. As luck would have it, I recently found this one on Craigslist for $30:
By the way, this is what it’s really like when I attempt to clean quickly and take pictures of the house. Notice the plastic hamburger patty on the floor underneath and the bandit running across the sofa, messing up the pillows.
I liked that the glass kept it light and didn’t cover up too much of the rug. And, no re-painting was required.
Why does our coffee table not have one pretty accessory on it, you might ask? These busy little hands, of course:
So, until a certain 18-month-old loses interest in destroying every surface in our house, I’ll save pictures in an inspiration file of how my coffee table will one day be styled:

Although I usually have you email me pictures of your spaces for reader participation posts, I thought it might be fun to host a link party this time, featuring your coffee tables. If you don’t have a blog, you can post your photo on my Facebook page.
LINK PARTY DETAILS. . . .
I love that Craigslist find!! You are good at scouting!!
I will have to do a “quick-clean/photo shoot” and add my link.
And absolutely. We will definitely have to hook up sometime in CLT. That would be very fun!
You lucky duck! What a great find! I have yet to find my perfect coffee table. I’ve taken the same route and am still diligently searching Craigslist. Hopefully I can link up next time!

My husband was just browsing Craigslist for a coffee table yesterday. Still haven’t found the one I can’t live without. I’ve done without it for so long, I’m not sure I want one now. You find is great, as always.
I can’t believe this craigslist find, and you didn’t have to paint it?! You have the eye for finding the jewels on that site, most definitely. It looks great in the space with the painted cabinet! Janell
This is one of the best CL finds ever and the price was perfect. I love how it looks in your place and yes one day it will be decorated the way you want and the little hands won’t even bother to touch it!
Megan
I, like you, am waiting for the wee one to stop touching my stuff before I can have a pretty looking coffee table.
Emily, you scored again, it looks beautiful in your room! I was overjoyed the first time I was able to have flowers on my coffee table for a little while. It’s still a great play surface though.
I’m linking up today.

great find! busy, little hands is the same reason why my coffee table is naked, too!
Very cool table, and great idea for a link party! Can’t wait to style up my cocktail ottoman and share!
My past two coffee tables were found on Craigslist, the latest being a cocktail ottoman with nailhead trim! I love the bamboo style. I was also thinking how kid friendly it could be…you’ve got plenty of room under there for some seagrass baskets to toss toys and blankets!
You are so lucky with Craigslist! I would forward you a photo of my table but like yours it’s empty due to a busy two year old :)
I feel your paint with the lack of coffee table decor. My son likes to remove anything that is on the coffee table for any reason. Maybe in 5 years or so :) Great Craigslist find!!

Craziness. I have that same rug. Bought it on ebay after PB stopped selling it. and guess what we did … bought a GLASS coffee table so as not to cover up the beautiusness. Awesome taste my friend.
oh. ps. my name is also emily
CRAZINESS. :)
That is a fantastic Craigslist find! I found my sofa via Craigslist for el cheapo! Love CL!! Eeeeeek, and thanks for posting my coffee table vignette (which was short lived due to a fellow 18 month old situation) on your blog!!
Great Find! We had that exact same coffee table when I was growing up. It was brown though and looks totally different painted white. Hmmn might have to ask my mom if she still has it in storage!
I’ll have to get my coffee table all set and photographed to post…great idea.
that table is amazing!! And it looks perfect in your living room, great find!
I love it and for 30 bucks… steal! I am just able to start “styling” sidetables, lower bookshelves, etc. again. My youngest is almost 6. Hang in there!
xo,
cristin

What an amazing find! wow – love it
Its soo pretty, great find! :)))
You have good luck with CL…our town’s CL sucks pretty bad. All I see are 1908’s poufy sofas.

Wow, what a score!!! :)
How come I never get this lucky on craigslist?! I guess sometimes I don’t have the patience to sort through all the crap to find a gem like this one!! Great find, I’m so jealous!
Lovely living room and lovely blog. xo
Awesome find!! Man, you’re the queen of craiglist! It looks really great against your chain link rug – I like the contrast. Now, if only we had space for a coffee table, I’d be linking to your link party!
Great find….your living room is gorgeous! I love the stream-lined no fuss look :o)

Oh my sweet goodness, now THAT is an amazing find!
Your coffee table is awesome! I love it. Tried to link up mine but for some reason I can’t get the image to show up! :-) Thanks for the linky party!
It fits your living room perfectly! That is amazing that you did not have to paint it or anything. Great find!
What a score! It looks perfect in your family room and I never would have noticed the little present under the sofa and a visitor in the photo- they look perfect!
Beautiful craiglist find. I purchased my coffee table when we lived in Italy. Like yours, there’s nothing on mine because of my 17 month old:-). I even have to remove the drawers!
That is an amazing craigslist find! Love that table! I also love the way you have done your living room. It is beautiful, and definitely inspired me to pay a little more attention to the bookcases in my living room…yours look great!
What a great find, I love this coffee table! P.S. I posted your feature on my blog on Monday, thanks again!
That’s what I could call a great find! What a deal!!
What a great find; I”ve been scouring Charlotte’s craiglist but have yet to find anything quite this fab. Looks wonderful in your room!
You should definitely check out craigseasy then! It lays out the pictures from your craigslist’s search results in the same page so you don’t spend an hour clicking back and forth =)
Emily, I am in love with your sense of style! My table is also pretty bare thanks to a little one with big curiosities. Thanks for hosting this link party – I love getting a glimpse into everyone’s living room.
I’m all linked up girlie. Thanks for hosting a fun party!
-Rene
Hi — I found out about this party through Karen at Living in the 513. I love her style and her blog. I’m so glad that she shared this party with me because it lead me to your great blog, which I also love. I would be so happy if you stopped by my place and if inspired in any way, please follow me in return. Thank you for hosting this fun and unique party!
All linked up…always a design book on my coffee table. Now that the little fingers around our house know better, I have started bringing books out again:) Thanks for the party. –Gretchen o.
You are the Craigslist master!!! thanks for the linky ;)
What an amazing find for only $30! Plus it really compliments living room colors and design. I have found that using a coffee table with some design to it, can really make area rugs stand out. I love to decorate my coffee table with books, candles and fresh flowers! Look forward to seeing your coffee table once the little one is older!
This coffee table is fab!!!
i’m loving this link party. I would link up, except I hate my coffee table, which sits on a rug I am not fond of, and is in front of a sofa I can’t stand. We are moving next year, I don’t want to spend $$ on replacing them now, I’d rather decorate the new place. So its nice to live vicariously through others.
Love the table, it is a perfect additon to your room. I think the little hands are the best accessory or all,Kathysue
I love that table! And I can’t believe you didn’t have to do a thing to it — THAT’S hard to find!
HOLY FIND! That is lovely. Cute blog! Found you by way of twitter through Nate Berkus chatter.
Don’t you just love CL, I used to have a problem and had to back off CL a little ! ;) Love your table !
How adorable!
Thanks for linking up!
~Liz
