Online Decorating: Brightening Up a Basement

May 12, 2010 21 Comments

Thought I would share a fun project-in-progress by showing you an idea board I recently completed for an online client’s basement.  While basements sometimes get a bad wrap for being dark and gloomy, this space is going to be quite the opposite, thanks to light upholstery and colorful fabrics.  And, Nate’s rug doesn’t hurt, either!

To make this project even more fun, I was able to recently meet up with this client and a friend (another online client!) for dinner when they came through Charlotte on a girls’ weekend.  We had a wonderful time.  And, how cute are they?!

Loving the rug and the fabric choices. This is going to be one basement that isn’t cold and dark.

Hi Emily. Have you ever used anything from Serena & Lily? Was wondering about the quality. I received a catalog from them this week and there is a chair featured that is keeping me up nights!

    Thank you!

I’m so mad that the green pouf from CB2 is out of stock. I hope they’ll sell it again – I will grab it. Did you get one before they sold out?

Wow! I’m seeing this one year after the fact, but I can’t stop staring at pictures of this lovely basement! Can you please tell me where you got the paintings from (or the artist)? I really love the colors & how it ties the whole look together! I’ve been searching art.com for days to no avail because the list of abstract art is so vast! I’m obsessed with these paintings! Please help! Thanks!
