DIY Christmas Ornaments

December 16, 2009 3 Comments

I finally sat down yesterday to watch HGTV’s Celebrity Holiday Homes special, and my favorite idea was from Kathie Lee Gifford’s house (go figure!), decorated by Eddie Ross. I love that he took these:

And, turned them into these:

He took styrofoam balls and covered them in strips of men’s cotton shirts he found at Goodwill. No glue, no sewing–just cutting and pinning. My kind of DIY project!

This could be a fun way to “save” your children’s clothes that they’ve outgrown. There are little girls’s dresses in great fabrics that would be cute to display at Christmas or year-round.

How would you get the balls in clusters? Glue?….I hope someone has better idea. I am not a craft person, but this looked like something I could try. Lost all my Christmas decorations in a fire. This would be fun place to start over. Thanks
