I’ve changed the title of this post several times already (“things I’ve had for a long time”, “pieces I’ll keep forever”, “stuff I’m still not sick of”, etc.) We’ve lived in three different houses since I started this blog seven years ago, and each one has felt very different. So, if there are pieces that survived (most of) our moves and are still on my love list, they probably deserve some kind of medal. My white parsons desk is the first recipient. :)
I originally bought this desk for my home office two houses ago. In the next house, it took a turn as our entryway console table (with two skirted ottomans underneath), and as a table in the girls’ room where it took a lot of abuse, thanks to pens and permanent markers.
I finally repainted the top with a white semi-gloss (applied with a roller) and it looks like new again.
In this house, it started out as my nightstand and has since moved to this wall, between our bedroom windows. I paired it with a framed Chinese silk painting that I bought at a consignment store. (You can find similar ones here.) I think the desk has found its new long-term home.
Mine came from Overstock, but I’ve also sourced a few other good options in different sizes and colors:
