We all know that a big rug is a big purchase. To me, a natural area rug is a great investment because it is just so versatile and go in just about any room. It’s all about adding texture—and of course, so easy to layer with another rug if you crave some color. We bought this jute rug from PB right after we moved into our last house in 2011. After five years, one move, and being lived on by five kids, I can say that it’s still one of our best investments.
I totally missed the sandals under the table until I edited these photos. . .
In fact, if I were to replace it today with a similar style, I’d probably buy the same one. A few disclaimers: it’s starting to show some rub spots where I’ve pulled furniture on it over the last several years. And, some of you have told me about experiencing shedding. I personally never noticed excessive shedding, and I think you probably get a fair amount of it most jute fiber rugs. I’ve only had a to trim a few loose pieces in all the time we’ve had it. Also, we don’t have pets, so I have no experience to share there. . .
I love the braided woven look, but it’s also one of the softest jute rugs I found. I don’t think anything about walking on it barefoot. And, as far as durability with kids goes, you can’t beat it. We have eaten and spilled, and you can see nothing. (I just brush vacuum as normal.)
