Usually, I instantly know what color I think a piece of furniture should be painted when I run across something good in a second hand store. Sometimes, I buy it, let it sit in my garage for a few weeks (maybe months) and ponder on it for a little while. But, more often than not, I go with my gut and paint it the color I originally envisioned. Take this chest, for example. Sweet lines, perfect for a bedroom or even an entry, but such a lackluster color:
When I spotted it, I saw it in green. Rich, vibrant and full of Spring found at the Home Depot paint department in the form of Caper Berry by Martha Stewart Living (MSL109).
This little makeover started with a shopping trip for supplies and ended with a couple of coats of paint:

The insides of the drawers were a little dingy, so I cleaned them up and painted them a dark charcoal gray.
