Back when I was trying to finish up several client rooms while dealing with terrible morning sickness from the twins, and of course, taking care of the three I already had, my aunt in Kentucky called to check in on me. I was so overwhelmed with the amount of things I had to do that I felt like I couldn’t breathe. She knew I was on the verge of losing it and told me she was sending me a spoon.
She said she’d already given spoons to her two girls for days when they felt the same way. I keep it on the shelf behind my desk as a little reminder that no matter how much lies ahead of me today, or this week, there’s still only one way to eat an elephant.
One spoonful at a time, of course.
For any of you who are a little overwhelmed by the huge checklists you have ahead of you today, breathe—and perhaps consider getting your own spoon :) Maybe I should start wearing mine around my neck. . .
PS—I read this yesterday, which is along the same lines but even more helpful than the spoon trick.
